  1. Earlier this year my toddler hid my keys and it took me 6 days to find them!!

He hid them in a roll of transfer tape (for vinyl crafting) that was under my craft table. I only found them after knocking it over and hearing the keys shift.

Hopefully it doesn’t take you 6 days and you have some spare keys.

Oh goodness, you'd never think to look in there would you! I've got spare keys that will suffice for a short while, hopefully they'll turn up. #mustlookundercrafttable

  2. While visiting a friend's house, their son hid my keys in the clothes dryer. We had to search for them for awhile to find them.

A few years ago, my kids' Great Grandmother (who is 97 now, but was about 95 then), hid our keys in the middle of her paper napkins / serviettes. Luckily my husband saw her out of the corner of his eye, or they may have taken us a while to find too. 🙂

Did you check the laundry basket? My toddler likes to put all kinds of stuff into the laundry basket, including: clean clothes, toy blocks, her baby doll, Daddy's belt, etc.

Oh good one, will do! I might just see the quasi-mythical 'bottom of the laundry basket' for the first time in years. 🙂

My daughter used to hide things in our subwoofer. There’s a big round opening in the front and if they push things far enough to the back, it will fall in. My husband has had to take the back off several times to fish out random objects. Other places have been in end table drawers and night stand drawers. They also have hidden things (like sippy cups full of milk) in the fridge of their play kitchen. That’s fun to find a week later…

    Good luck finding your keys!

Oh good spots, I'll check! My daughters posted pencils in the centre post of a swivel chair once. One of these days I'll screw off the bottom and retrieve them. 🙂

  5. My son hid the keys it in the laundry basket, under the sofa and once in a gigantic bag full of lego bricks! The remote control of our TV was found in oven, after some time of melting (but it still works! :D)… Have a nice day and good luck for your search, Karin

Haha! At least you have a good story to tell when people ask why the remote is half melted 🙂

  7. Why don't you play hide-another-item with her? Hope she remembers and hides it in the same spot?! Lol!

  9. What about… somewhere outside? Or in the car itself? Or probably the secret hiding place she has for her treasures that you will never know about 😉

  10. This post made me laugh because we just went through something similar — with a 5 and 7 year old! My husband swore they hid his truck key. We looked EVERYWHERE!

Did you ever find your key?

Oh no! Alas I never found them, and I've had a new set cut. (Car keys are so expensive these days!) I am still vaguely hopeful that they'll turn up one day – even if it's just to satisfy my curiosity about where they went! 🙂

im in the same situation right now, my little sister has lost the car keys around the house somewhere, she keeps pointing at things, but they arent there. try looking behind the tv, or behind furniture, they like to sneak stuff away, and then forget where they put it.

Might be in a dryer or some store room. Where did you found the keys?

In the barbeque… it was lit at the moment he threw it in.

Oh good one! I see you and my toddler think alike! We don’t have an open BBQ at our place, but if we did, then I’d be looking through the ashes right about now. 🙂
